In 2006, when we first started implementing MES systems (Manufacturing Execution Systems) that support mobile barcode and RFID systems in the warehouse, packaging or inventory – we thought we were witnessing history in the making..

We were satisfied that our customers, being early adapters, were allowing us to implement new technologies on their production floor.
Don’t get me wrong – it’s not that mobile barcode and RFID systems were that innovative at the time, but rather theshift in perception of our industrial customers, that started to realizethat they could have mobile reporting stations which would save them the time of needing to go from one place to another in order to operate and report. This was somewhat of a surprise to us and signaled the start of a new era in industrial automation management systems.

After all this started, the world of mobile devices developed rapidly, turning into a commodity even. As a result, there has been a dramatic increase in the demand for working with mobile devices, tablets and smartphones in the production floor and for manufacturing operations.We at ContelITSnow find ourselves delivering more and more products which are involved in the mobile world.

We started to gradually deliver more sophisticated and complex systems that work and operate both on mobile devices (iOS, Android, Win8) and on the more common standard PC operating systems.

Recently, ContelITS hasstarted to deliver a mobile solution for one of the largest process manufacturers in Israel, which provides integrated data from HMI/SCADA systems (in real-time) and from peripheral systems,allowing managers and key users to get relevant data from production – anytime and anywhere.

The system enables line operators and floor managers to gain mobile access through smartphones to work and report throughout the production line, and get real-time information from the PLC layer.
Floor managers will also have access to various operational reports that are generated by demand or as a result of a report triggered by an alarm or production fault.
